I have to stub in a new end on a fairly heavy roller , guessing 300 pounds , the last repair was a stub that was sweat in , and a 3/8 pin through it , it failed miserably. the diameter of the stub is 2.250 at the largest point. I want to sweat the stub in and grove the mating surface and weld it .

Since welding them in the beginning of the year, I haven't had a single failure. And I have done some pretty hard wheeling. Just remember to make small tacks while the axle is in the housing.
